I'm a Woman. I can't have Pilonidal Cyst, right?

Do I have a Pilonidal Cyst?  I’m a woman. I thought that only guys got pilonidal cysts.

Do I have a pilonidal cyst or sinus?  What is this draining sore on my backside and how do I get it fixed?  Is the surgery going to make my rear end look terrible?

What?  What’s this stain in my underwear?  I heard about pilonidal cysts from some of my friends.  Do I have one? How does one know that they have a pilonidal problem?  If you want the opinion of a doctor (and this is always advised) it’s best to seek the advice of a surgeon.  More specifically, a colon and rectal surgeon. Many doctors may still say that you have a cyst, and they are incorrect.  Pilonidal disease is not a cyst. Rather it is a chronic infection in the middle skin of the crease between your butt cheeks.

So, if this is bugging you, how do you go about getting it fixed? How is this thing termed a pilonidal cyst typically fixed? The Cleft Lift Procedure performed by a surgeon experienced in the procedure is your best bet.

Please do some research and find a surgeon who is experienced in performing the cleft lift procedure.  For tips on what to ask a surgeon, look here.
