Dr. Jeffrey Sternberg
Born and raised in Manhattan, Jeffrey Sternberg graduated Magna Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa in Biochemistry from Dartmouth College. Following medical school at the University of Chicago, Dr. Sternberg moved to Boston for an 8 year residency in General Surgery at Harvard University’s Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. While there, he participated in molecular biology research and completed fellowship training in Surgical Nutrition. Dr. Sternberg’s formal education was completed with a fellowship in Colon and Rectal Surgery at the prestigious University of Minnesota program. Dr. Sternberg is now a partner with the San Francisco Bay Area’s premier surgical group San Francisco Surgical Medical Group, specializing in colorectal, general and laparoscopic surgery, and gastrointestinal and abdominal diseases.
Dr. Sternberg is active in the leadership of California Pacific Medical Center (CPMC). He was elected by his peers to CPMC’s Medical Executive Committee and serves as the Surgical Director of CPMC’s Center for Inflammatory Bowel Diseases. Dr. Sternberg is active in the national leadership of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons and has been elected President of the Northern California Chapter of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgery. Extending his commitment to the care of patients with Inflammatory Bowel Disease, Dr. Sternberg serves on the Board of Directors of the Northern California Chapter of the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America.
Dr. Sternberg is a Diplomate of the American Board of Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons.
